I was born in St. Paul, MN in 1962. Graduated from high school in Wales, WI in 1980. Graduated from University of Wisconsin - Madison with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1985. I became a Christian in 1981 at UW Madison and joined Intervarsity's international student ministry in 1982. I planned to learn Mandarin Chinese and work as a professional in China. I had a short-term missions trip to Shanghai, China before entering graduate school at UC Davis in Biochemical Engineering. I attended Davis Chinese Christian Church from 1985-88. I graduated and took my first job in Houston, TX. There I was volunteer staff with IVCF international student ministry working at University of Houston with a Southeast Asia fellowship, Houston International Christian Fellowship and started a Mainland Chinese Fellowship (under Houston Chinese Church). In 1990 I moved to Los Angeles and continued as volunteer staff with UCLA IVCF international student ministry with Katie Rawson (1990-1996). Married Loida Abad in 1992 and have two college/high school kids. I rejoined UCLA IVCF international student ministry volunteer staff under Bo Kim from 2003-06. Continued to work with international students through the years and have hosted home-stay students from UCLA extension and Santa Monica College for eight years. Worked 10 years in Biotech, 10 years in Actuarial Science, and 5 years as a High School Science and Math teacher.
